Leon Wedding and Garlic Soup

The bride's father must be seriously well connected to have a wedding at such a lavish cathedral.  We felt honoured to observe this spectical, as we photographed the Cathedral whilst the midday sun intensified.

We were starting to get thirsty and I was feeling adventurous.  Leon is a truly exciting city because the local bylaw declares all licensed establishments must offer free tapas to all travelers and pilgrims who buy a drink.  Leon itself is probably the biggest resting point on the Camino de Santiago.  The 800 km pilgrimage from Southern France to Santiago de Compostela near northern Portugal.  Keen to sample some of the most authentic tapas I viewed this menu!

The "Ear and nose" being the house speciality.  I attempted this with determination but sadly I found the gelatinous texture extremely unpleasant.   I have tried this type of dish before out of respect, but have come to terms with the fact that it is not for me.

Disappointed we moved on and tucked away around a corner we spied a gaucho bar.

My excitement increased tenfold when I discovered their house special was authentic garlic soup.  This I have wanted to try for a long time, and turned the whole day on its head !  I have returned to this bar several times since just for the soup.
